A
Brief History of Iranian Retreading
Most readers will understand
that eliciting information about the retreading industry
in a country such as Iran is, at best problematical. However,
the tyre retreading industry is a global trade and trade
breaks down barriers wherever they arise, and for whatever
reason. Retreading Business is has long made a point of
shedding light on the retreading sector around the world.
This is one of the first short glimpses into the retreading
sector in Iran.
Rather curiously, this short
article gives us a clearer picture of this enigmatic country's
industry than we have of that in many much more open states.
The first rereading was done with the assistance of British
retreading company, Vacu-lug. Later, for reasons that we
are all too familiar with, B.F.Goodrich in Iran was taken
over by an Iranian tyre group and the name was changed to
Kian Tire.
Naturally the tyre retreader,
under B.F.Goodrich, was taken over by the same group . They
named this retreader NIKADJ. General Tire Iran also established
one tyre retreading plant which later was taken over by
a private group and named : Tarmim Tire. These two retreaders
are still active.
In 1993, ten hot cure retreading
systems were bought from Cima Impianti by an Iranian Company
and sold to ten individual newly established retreading
companies. Each package contained 11 curing presses, one
manual buffer, one automatic buffer, inspection and testing
machines, two Orbitread Extruders and other necessary equipment.
The tyre retreading companies involved in this deal are:-
- Ken Tire Industrial Complex, located
in Tabriz (Ken Tire has got two Cima packages)
- Sirjan Tire Retreading, located in Kerman
- Nikadj Tire Retreading, located in Tehran
- Semnan Tire Retreading, located in Semnan
- Kavire e Yazd Tire Retreading, located
in Meybod
- Sepid Adj Tire Retreading, located in
Shiraz
- Ammar e Yaser Tire Retreading, located
in Garmsar
- Tak Tire Retreading, located in Tabriz
- Orumia Tire Retreading, located in Orumie
Later in 1995 another ten packages
were bought from Bandag by another Iranian company for precured
retreading systems. Each package was complete with an autoclave
with capacity of 22 truck tyres. In the precured system
the following companies are active:
- Qazvin Tire Retreading (ex. Iran Bandag)
with three Bandag lines
- Ken Tire Industrial Complex with one
Bandag line
- Iran Retreading with two Bandag lines
- Pars Sabalan with one Bandag line plus
one complete Marangoni Ring Tread system
- Hegmatine Tire Retreading with one Bandag
line
- Mashad Retreading with one Bandag line
The most active retreader in
hot retreading is Ken Tire Industrial Complex with 24 Cima
curing press and the most active retreader in pre-cured
retreading system is Qazvin Tire Retreading Company ( ex.
Iran Bandag ).
