Truck Tyre Specialists, the Weston super Mare-based retreader has announced that Bob Collins, one of the company’s founders, passed away on Sunday 6 June, aged 79, after a battle with cancer. Collins founded TTS in 1974 with his business partner Phil Binning and was a well-known, respected and knowledgeable tyre professional even after his retirement. He had great pride, not only in TTS, but in the retreading industry in general and was a strong advocate of the UK retreading sector for many years. He retired some years ago but was a regular visitor to the company’s offices during his retirement.

Insa Turbo to Investigate New
    Tread Adhesion Systems for the Reuse of End-of-Life Tires
 Spanish retreader Insa Turbo has announced that it is to engage in a research and development project on a new rubber-rubber adhesion system for the reuse of end-of-life tyres in order to make their Paim process
even more
sustainable than it
already is.
This project,
Ecobonding, is
funded by the Center
for Industrial
Technological
Development - CDTI
and co-financed by
the European Regional Development Fund - FEDER, through the Pluriregional Operational Program of Spain
2014-2020, aims to develop a new system for achieving adhesion of the new tread to the casing during the Paim process. This new system aims to replace the current procedures, in which
a solvent-based rubber adhesive is used, with the use of sustainable and environmentally friendly products.

TrenTyre Attains Level 1 B-BBEE Contributor Status
       The directors of South African tyre distributor and retreader, TrenTyre, have announced a successful conclusion to the transformation strategy implemented within the company recently. The company’s all-female board of directors consisting of Ria Bronkhorst, Nonkosi Dyantyi and Fikile Thabe has also reported the fact that TrenTyre is now a B-BBEE Level 1 Contributor.
“We reviewed our transformation strategy within all the elements of the B-BBEE scorecard and adopted a people-centred approach to impact transformation at a faster pace,” said Ria Bronkhorst, Chairperson of the board. “The strategy encompassed focused initiatives
for our employees via our Employee Trust to benefit them by offering bursaries, study assistance, skills development, enterprise development as well as socio-economic development initiatives in the communities which TrenTyre operates.

 6 Retreading Business
VM Rubber, having recently celebrated its first year of operation, has announced a couple of further developments as part of a constant process of evolution of its product lines and its social channels.
Firstly, the Italian company has updated its website (www.vmrubber.com) by adding a new section named “Services” visible on the home page but also in the bottom banner between the company profile and the catalogues. VMR is offering four different after sales services: Extruder Gun Repair,
Expanding Chuck Re-belting, Buffer Repair and Wheels Regritting. Besides this, they are also available to receive any additional assistance request.
In terms of product line expansion, the company is now launching two new extruder gun models: the VMR Heavy Duty Extruder, with a power of 680W and the CP Extruder gun with a rubber production of 15 kg/h. Both models are available in 110V and 230V.
