A new era is underway for AER, the Spanish Retreading Association following the retirement of Pedro Espinosa earlier this year and the appointment of Adrián Fernández Monge as its new General Secretary.
Monge Appointed New General Secretary of AER
Pedro Espinosa’s retirement as AER’s General Secretary signalled a changing of the guard for AER, after being in the role for 29 years since the founding of the association. His departure led to the appointed of Monge who in his previous role was a legal advisor for the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge.
On his appointment, Monge said, “It is an honour for me to take on this role as Secretary General of the (AER), and even more so to do so at a time I consider decisive for the sector. From the association, our work will focus on strengthening the visibility, innovation, and recognition of the retreaded tire as one of the pillars of the circular economy in Spain and Europe. I come with great enthusiasm, commitment, and a sense of responsibility to amplify the voice of our members, promote strategic projects, and strengthen collaboration with all stakeholders in the sector. I am convinced of the great opportunities ahead if we work together along the same path.”
Monge joins the Spanish Retreading Association at a complex time for the industry with retreading production in Spain continuing to decline across the continent and a convoluted and contradictory regulatory environment which persists in holding the sector back.
