During Autopromotec 2025 in Bologna, Italy, B&J Rocket presented the Cactus line, its new carbide grinding tool line specifically designed for rubber processing applications such as tyre and conveyor belt repair.
B&J Rocket Cactus Line: Design and Features
Uniquely structured base members are what set the Cactus line apart compared to the previous versions. The Cactus tool features an outward-facing design with tungsten carbide grits applied on the peaks of the structure. This creates a buffing surface that has evenly spaced abrasive points, which ensure a better airflow, further improving ventilation and reducing heat build-up during operation. The newly designed open structure prevents rubber debris from accumulating on the tool, which improves overall long-term performance, and its aggressive structure provides more effective rubber removal, which is ideal for heavy-duty tasks on larger tyre injuries.
B&J Rocket Cactus line is designed for tyre retreading and repairing, especially for large tyres, such as the OTR tyres used in mining and agriculture. The tool can also be used for conveyor belt repair, ensuring efficient material removal.
Comparison to the Existing Lines
When talking about the currently available grinding tools, B&J Rocket emphasised that the Cactus line has a contoured structure which gives it a unique edge, compared to the Copper line (designed with a flat base) and the Patriot line (which features a convex-concave base with peaks facing the inside of the tool). This allows faster rubber removal with less heat and clogging, making it an ideal choice for larger repairs in demanding conditions.
The new Cactus line is currently available in a size range which mirrors those that are currently available in existing product lines, with plans to expand the line with new sizes in the future, according to the B&J Rocket.
