The British Tyre Manufacturers’ Association (BTMA) has announced John Howe, Managing Director of Michelin Tyre plc UK & Ireland, as the new Chair, bringing with him over 25 years of industry experience.
New Leadership at BTMA
John’s career began at Solideal UK’s warehouse. It progressed through senior leadership roles across Solideal International, Camoplast, Camso, and ultimately Michelin, where he has held a range of strategic positions spanning global business development, sales, and market strategy in the agriculture, construction, and materials handling sectors.
Currently, John Howe leads Michelin’s B2C operations for car, motorcycle, and bicycle markets across the UK and Ireland. His experience across various levels of the industry equips him with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities that the tyre sector faces nowadays.
Jamie Stevens of Goodyear, who has served as BTMA Chair, will step down and take on the role of Vice-Chair temporarily. Both of these appointments represent a new chapter for the BTMA, aiming to strengthen its leadership as it continues to represent the interests of tyre manufacturers and retreaders, while promoting industry best practice across the UK.
