Continental Releases New Over-the-Road Regional Trailer Retread

Continental Tire the Americas has launched the ContiTread HTR, a next-generation trailer retread for regional and long-haul service, designed to reduce heat buildup and protect casing integrity. The new tread replaces the long-standing ContiTread HTL.

Built on a lightweight, resilient compound, the ContiTread HTR features a robust pattern with a rounded shoulder intended to improve durability in high-scrub conditions. Continental says the pattern resists shoulder tearing and provides enhanced protection against stone retention. A heat-reducing compound aims to preserve casing integrity for future retreading, while precision-engineered widths from 200 to 240 mm are intended to support consistent, long-lasting performance.

“The ContiTread HTR represents a significant advancement in retread technology,” said Shaun Uys, Vice President of Continental’s U.S. Commercial Vehicle Tire business. “We’ve designed it to outperform its predecessor, the HTL.” Uys added that the design focus was on dependable performance across demanding trailer applications.

Optimised for regional over-the-road use, the tread is also positioned for long-haul operations. According to the company, fleets can expect a reliable, cost-effective option that extends tyre life and reduces total cost of ownership by improving durability and casing protection.
