The Centre for Remanufacturing and Reuse Carbon Footprint Report

The Centre for Remanufacturing and Reuse in the UK recently published a report on the carbon footprint of retreaded tyres compared with that of new tyre. The result was a fantastic PR case for the green credentials of retreaded tyres and an excellent tool for retreaders wanting to demonstrate the environmental benefits of retreading.

The report showed that the manufacture of a 17.5” new tyre produces 86.9 kg CO2 emissions compared to 60.5 kg CO2 for an equivalent retread tyre, a saving of 26.4 kg and a reduction of emissions by 30%.
