VMI Retrax Programme Now Complete

VMI’s well known RETRAX cushion gum extrusion smearing technology has now been extended with a newly designed pre-cured tread applicator or builder. It is a well-known fact that the application of cushion gum by smearing is indispensable for a high quality retread. VMI also believes that it is important that cushion gum application and tread application follow each other as quickly as possible and preferably without any manual intervention.

That is why VMI now introduces the cushion gum extruder, automatic builder and automatic stitcher, all combined in one machine layout. Making this the ultimate VMI RETRAX machine version available. In order to make sure that you always have the right overall machine output, different capacity versions of the machine are available. The largest RETRAX & builder combination available, is able to produce 165 high quality retreads per eight hours shift.

The new RETRAX builder control system does not require inputs such as tire- and tread parameter settings. Based on automatic measurement of the actual carcass diameter and tread length, the required stretch to be applied on the tread to assure a good splice, is calculated by the machine software. This determined stretch is then applied over practically the full length of the tread while the tread is automatically centred.

Product highlights:

  • Easy set-up, low manpower, high output
  • Uniform filling by extrusion-smearing technology
  • Automatic aligning and stretching technology
  • Even stretch application of pre-cured tread
