Goodyear Respond to Trump Attack

Goodyear

Goodyear has been shrouded in controversy the past 24 hours after US President Donald Trump called for a boycott of the tyre manufacturer.

Trump Targets Goodyear over Campaign Clothing Ban

The attack from the US President came following leaked images and reports that Goodyear had prohibited staff from wearing Donald Trump campaign clothing, specifically MAGA and “All Lives Matter” items whilst approving “Black Lives Matter” attire.

In his attack the US President tweeted: “Don’t buy GOODYEAR TIRES - They announced a BAN ON MAGA HATS. Get better tires for far less!"

The tweet saw Goodyear’s share price drop by 6% before it later recovered.

In response to Trump’s calls, Goodyear explained that they ask associates to “refrain from workplace expressions in support of political campaigning for any candidate or political party, as well as similar forms of advocacy that fall outside the scope of racial justice and equity issues.
