Central India based OTR retreader Waidhan Engineering & Industries Pvt Ltd (WEI) has further widened its portfolio by retreading the biggest size of OTR casing at its Singruali based site. The Madhya Pradesh retreader recently supplied the first lot of 40.00R57 size retreaded tyres, which are fitted to 240-ton dump trucks.
“The 240 Ton dump truck is the largest vehicle operating in Indian mine sites, and the 40.00R57 size tyre has been retreaded by us for the first time. Actually, the largest size of OTR tyres is also planned to be retreaded at our upcoming new site but orders for this size came earlier, so we decided to take the plunge and delivered it,” informed Harsh Himmatramka, Director, Waidhan Engineering & Industries Pvt Ltd.
“The new facility, which is likely to be functional by the end of the year, will entirely focus on ultra large OTR tyres that are fitted to 150T, 170T, 190T and 240T Dump Trucks,” he added. “Currently, our Singruali plant is installed with buffing and building machine to handle up to 63” size OTR casings and a curing press for up to 57” diameter casings.”
These 57” size tyre are operational at one of the largest coal mines in India. Previously, the customer was only buying new radial OTR tyres, which are imported, very expensive and also have a long delivery time. With the retreading of ultra large OTR tyres, the customer is now expecting substantial savings in terms of reduced new tyre purchases and inventory costs as well as availability of tyres at a much shorter time duration compared to new tyres.
On equipment in the new plant, Harsh revealed, “We are procuring a mix of machines from the domestic and international market. These are not mass-market machines and are customised as per the requirements in the plant.”
WEI has also been engaged in OTR tyre repair services for over two decades, repairing sizes ranging from 25” to up to 57” using the Monaflex repair system.
