Vipal Sponsors Buggyra Team In Formula Truck
Vipal, the leading Brazilian company in South America and one of the largest manufacturers in the world of products for the retreading and repair of tyres and inner tubes, has signed the sponsorship of the BUGGYRA team formula truck for the second consecutive year.
In the 2011 season, VIPAL participated with a VIP area in 5 of the 10 races and brought to the events customers, manly retreaders from all corners of Europe. The races VIPAL held VIP areas at were Misano/Italy, Albacete/Spain, Nurburgring/Germany,
Most/Czech Republic and Le Mans/France. VIPAL invited more than 75 people from Italy, Czech Republic, Germany, Spain, Portugal, France, England, Scotland, Poland, Slovakia and Turkey.
Due to the great success of last season, VIPAL has changed strategies. Since customers that participated in 2011 requested more integration with their own customers-fleets, Vipal will also invite the end users this year. VIPAL, has once again shown its commitment to its customers and its intention to development the retread business. With this
action, VIPAL intends to show their investment in marketing and in the relationship with the customers and that the end users comes first.
Fabricio Nedeff, commercial co- ordinator, highlights that this event brought a very good image to VIPAL in the European market last year and this year it seems that it will be even more valuable as the company will bring the final user to these events.
Colony Tire Rationalises
In a move to focus on its commercial and wholesale business, Colony Tire Inc., Edenton, N.C., is buying the commercial facilities that Monro Muffler Brake Inc. acquired from Kramer Tire Co. in March, 2012.
In return, Monro Muffler Brake is buying 18 Colony Tire retail stores in North Carolina and Virginia.
“Monro sold us the truck tyre centres in Norfolk and Hampton, Va., and the retread plant in Norfolk,” said Scott Creighton, president of Colony Tire.
“As part of that deal we sold them 18 retail stores and we held on to one retail-only store. We have 25 other combo commercial/retail stores and three wholesale distribution centres.”
The single retail store Colony is keeping is located in Edenton, where the company’s headquarters are located.
“We have 130 employees in this town and we just wanted to hold on to that store. Our focus going forward is commercial and wholesale. We sold the retail because that’s Monro’s forte and our strength is in commercial and wholesale and that’s what we’re going to grow from here forward,” said Creighton.
Creighton said Colony had considered the move since Monro first announced acquiring Kramer on March 13.
“Monro has wanted to buy our retail business for many, many years but we’ve just had no interest. In an effort for us to buy their commercial business, we decided it was the right time to sell our retail business.”
The Kramer facilities will be renamed as Colony Tire plants. The retread plant will be closed and its production will be shifted to Colony’s Michelin Retread Technology plant in Edenton, N.C.
All Colony employees in the 18 retail stores will become Monro employees. The Kramer/Monro employees in the two commercial centres and retread plant have
been offered jobs with Colony Tire.
