And the city...
Tyrexpo Asia has now become a firmly established event on the show calendar and at every edition this event grows in size and stature.
The development of the exhibition is testament to the organiser’s determination to succeed and to create a marketplace where traders from around the world can come together in an Asian context in an atmosphere that blends both Eastern and Western ideologies and traditions. The legacy of colonial rule in Singapore means that English is widely spoken, often to a standard that would put the average Englishman to shame. That makes it simpler to do business on an international level and what is ironically the lingua franca of the business community around the world.
Singapore is home to a wide variety of hotel accommodation and there is no need to shut one’s self away in the hotel room at night as the capital’s streets, shops, restaurants, theatres and above all its colourful markets are open until late in the evening.
It would be very amiss to visit Tyrexpo Asia without sampling some of the delights that Singapore has to offer.
The street markets are like no other in the world, full of colour, aromas, a real buzz of activity.
And of course, for the British visitor, no visit would be complete without a visit to Raffles, perhaps for a visit to the famous Long Bar to sample the iconic Singapore Sling.
When you see the traffic on the city streets, it is hard to comprehend that this is one of the most expensive countries in the world to own and operate a car. Yet the city is often gridlocked with slow moving traffic where its multicoloured taxis weave in and out of the flow, like taxi drivers the world over looking for shortcuts, bypassing the logjams.
Singapore is an experience not to be missed. If you are attending Tyrexpo Asia, then don’t miss out on the city and its unique atmosphere.
