       Ukrainian Retreader Upgrading
Kiev-based JSC "Zaporozhye tyre-repair plant" is one of the oldest businesses in the region. Established in 1961 the company developed its retread plant in 2002 in co-operation with Ellerbrock and it now offers the largest cold cure retread facility in the Ukraine, turning out around 44 tyres per day.
Casings are imported from
Germany and the Netherlands as local tyres are often of poor quality due to overloading, poor road conditions and a lack of tyre management. The co- operation with Ellerbrock, now Marangoni, has led to the company providing tyres at a global quality by the cold process.
The warranty period for these retreaded tyres is now 100 thousand kilometres, and the real mileage can be as high as 150-200 thousand kilometres.
The company is now also upgrading its hot cure facility to match modern western standards.
material, they also do about twice as many kilometres as other new tyres from Asia. Having introduced this system, PSK is assured of top-quality casings and

bid to use the manufacturing facilities to full capacity.
PSK has another unique selling proposition by way of its facilities for EM retreads. Three more hot presses have been added to the equipment this year, enabling the company to make 49-inch, 51-inch and 57-inch retreads. Branded with the Bontyre name and naturally, like the truck tyres, thoroughly tested on a shearography system. "We have measured the curing time on all the presses", explained Roland Schutte, Business Unit Manager OTR Retreading at Kraiburg Austria. "The results are impeccable. Sergey Bondarenko has put all the necessary systems in place to retread tyres of the dimensions used as standard in the Russian quarries and to guarantee the best possible quality of the end product". In order to bring the EM arm up to a similar level of professional expertise, the PSK employees have been attending training sessions held by specialists in EM tyre repairs since October. Having laid the foundations, Sergey Bondarenko wants to start series production for all tyre sizes in 2013. At present the production facility is used purely for the dimension 24.00 R35. At the moment, 20 EM retreads leave the factory every month, but that figure is set to double or even triple next year. The total capacity of the plant is around 250 tyres per month. Anyone who walks through the business premises operated by the Bondarenkos – whether production, sales or service – can sense that quality is not just a hollow promise here but is a fundamental commitment and their mission in life.
