AUTOPROMOTEC
Matteuzzi Shows New Tyre Builder
available under the Akarmak brand. It was an excellent showpiece for the firm, and already they have decided to return in 2017.
Ileri explained that the stand for 2015 was about explaining the concept of what was available to newcomers to the market. The experienced retreaders understood the process and the equipment, but today there is, according to Ileri, a new interest in investing in retreading from developing markets, not just in Eastern Europe, but Eurasia, the Middle East, and increasingly in Africa.
Autopromotec gives Akar Makina the opportunity to highlight the equipment and the level of technical and training support available for those about to enter the market. The training support comes via Akar Makina’s solution partners, and enables investors to get plants up and running efficiently in as short a time as is possible.
Akar Makina is now a one stop shop for the retreader with everything required available from the Turkish manufacturer. In the US Akar Makina has its agent, Shamrock Marketing, which has recently opened its own training centre featuring Akar Makina’s equipment. In Malaysia, Akar Makina has partnered with Liew Koon, and increasingly the company
is building its global market coverage.
In conjunction with its solution partners, Akar Makina has developed four or five turnkey projects where the customers have been ver y satisfied.
The orders were taken, the machines built, the operators trained and the plants were in full production with two weeks of installation.
The next challenge for Akar Makina is to create the supply and sales networks to support the retreaders. There needs to be a creative way of working with the casings market, and with the fleets to ensure both supply and demand are met. Akar Makina’s aim is to offer a whole sector solution from raw casings to finished products.
This is a policy that is being applied to both TBR and to OTR tyre retreading.
The show saw the launch of Akar Makina’s extruder builder, the first model having already been sold to a client in Bulgaria. This will be followed in 2016 by an all new automatic tread builder. Ileri finished by adding that the company was always looking to upgrade and develop its offer to the market with ever better solutions.
Autopromotec is always a great event for Matteuzzi, the Bologna based equipment supplier to the tyre trade being just a few kilometres away from its own headquarters.
The stand at Autopromotec was, as always, filled with equipment and the Matteuzzi team were fully engaged throughout the show. Emilio Matteuzzi took some time to highlight the company’s latest offer to the retread sector, an all new automatic tyre builder for the precure market.
This RAS 650T can be used to apply precure tread to tyres with an external diameter of between 28 inches and 47 inches, 14 inch bead
to 24.5 inch with tread widths up to 16.5” being accommodated.
The RAS 650T can accommodate 11 metre rolls of tread, or pre-cut treads, and has a built in automatic tread cutter and pattern matching for a perfect pitch tread.
The machine offers guided and centred tread application and automatically removes the poly backing to treads whilst it builds the tyre.
In a market that is ever dependent upon automation to reduce costs and increase quality the RAS650T is sure to be a welcome addition to the armoury of the forward thinking retreader.

Show Strengths
Akar Makina Pushes Akermak Branding
The MAE half of the stand
was a busy operation, and
MAE’s role as one of the
global leaders in envelopes
and bladders was verified
by the never ending stream
of guests and clients to the
stand. The products on
display were very much
familiar, but the corporate
video playing showed just
how the envelopes were
made and how their design
gave superior performance.
On the Malatesta stand the
interest was in, of course,
winter tyres and 4x4 tyres,
but the company had
recently launched an
autograss tyre, which had
this been a motorsport
show, would have attracted
some considerable attention.
The most visible introduction on the Malatesta stand was the new labelling on the tyres, which highlighted the branding and clearly stated the tyre sizes and performance characteristics – this was a branding exercise that improved customer perception, rather than an EU tyre
Turkish retread equipment specialist Akar Makina attended Autopromotec for the thirs time in 2015, the brand Akarmak now being promoted as a way of
familiarising the market with the company and its products. Metin Ileri highlighted that the presence was designed to help develop market awareness of the products
labelling outcome – tyre labelling is not being applied to car and 4x4 tyres, nor will it be in the foreseeable future: Though at some point it may be deemed desirable to join that battle for the sake of retaining market share.
