Michelin North America, Inc. presented TreadVision by Michelin Retread Technologies, a new retreading system that integrates AI, robotics and advanced data analytics to improve retread quality, consistency and operational efficiency for fleets.

TreadVision

Michelin introduced TreadVision at the Technology & Maintenance Council Annual meeting. “Michelin has a long history of innovation in the mobility space,” said Janet Foster-Whitley, Senior Director, Enterprise Dealer & North America Retreading. “With TreadVision, we’re driving the industry forward once again. Retreading plays a vital role in helping fleets extend asset life and control operating costs, and we’re evolving the process to deliver greater consistency, improved quality and faster turnaround times.”

A key component of the system is TreadEye, a tread-depth assessment technology which is now available across the Michelin Retread Technologies dealer network. The tool captures 1,200 measurement points per tyre, providing detailed insights into tread wear and casing condition, which helps fleets determine optimal pull points and protect casing integrity. It also incorporates AI-powered automated inspection and predictive modelling to identify imperfections that may not be visible through traditional inspection methods. Automated classification of Casing Integrity Analysis (shearography) results through Vision AI further strengthens real-time quality control by ensuring only suitable casings proceed to retreading.

Automation

The system integrates automated tyre handling and plant flow to streamline retread operations and improve turnaround times. Automated specification management standardises build parameters, helping reduce process variability and human error while improving product consistency.

TreadVision integrates with Michelin’s Fleet Business Insights platform, transforming operational data into actionable insights. The platform provides fleets with visibility into tyre performance trends, asset tracking, pull-point strategies, and cost-management opportunities across the entire tyre lifecycle.
