MYPOL Targets International Retreading Market

–

Mysore Polymers & Rubber Products Pvt. Ltd. (MYPOL), an Indian rubber products manufacturer, is looking to expand its international presence. This was evident from its presence at the recent Tire Cologne show, where it aimed to raise awareness of its wide range of products and its growing export strategy.

Exciting Expansion Plans

Founded in 1981 as a butyl tube manufacturer, MYPOL has since expanded its range of rubber products to serve the automotive, tyre manufacturing, aerospace, defence, and industrial sectors. The company, based in Mysuru, Karnataka state, manufactures a wide range of products, including automotive tubes, curing bags, envelopes, flaps, tyre-manufacturing bladders, technical rubber products, electrical insulation mats, and diffuser membranes, while not losing sight of its background and key driver of success: butyl tubes.

MYPOL is one of India’s largest manufacturers of butyl tubes and supplies several original equipment manufacturers, including JK Tyre, Yokohama, and BKT. The company also sells its own MYPOL-branded tyres in the replacement market, a step we don’t see very often, moving from supplier to manufacturer. Alongside the tyres themselves, the company also supplies bladders for new tyre manufacturing. This provides them with a level of diversification that many other companies in the retread sector are seeking to achieve.

However, even with this clear spread of products across key segments of the tyre industry, MYPOL is increasingly prioritising the retreading market, with a specific emphasis on envelopes and curing bags. Within its retreading range, MYPOL offers both inner and outer envelopes, as well as curing bags, in 37 distinct sizes, with an envelope selection suitable for almost all commercial tyre needs. MYPOL also sell electrical insulation mats and diffuser membranes to the EU.

At The Tire Cologne, the company presented its broader range to the market, primarily covering bladders, butyl tubes, and retreading materials. The company is currently looking to expand its presence in Europe, with an emphasis on quality and value rather than competing primarily on price. According to the company, price-led competition risks creating a “race to the bottom”, particularly in markets where retreaders seek dependable consumables and consistent after-sales support.

At present, MYPOL sells envelopes in India and is developing a new range for the international retreading market. The company’s immediate export focus is on building commercial partnerships, particularly with manufacturing companies and established market participants able to represent its products in Europe.

The company already has a representative based in Europe to support its search for regional partners. MYPOL has also appointed a Latin American agent based in Panama to supply customers directly from India during the initial phase of its expansion. In the longer term, the company plans to establish warehousing in both Latin America and Europe. This arrangement will support shorter delivery times and improved product availability as the company develops its position outside India.

MYPOL’s approach in India is based on sales support and after-sales service, with a dedicated team available to respond to customer requirements. As the company looks at export markets, the ability to replicate this level of technical and commercial support through regional partners will be central to its international strategy.

For retreaders, the arrival of a supplier focused on quality in the market is a welcome addition. If MYPOL translates its domestic manufacturing experience and broader rubber engineering capability into a credible, long-term offering for retreaders in Europe, Latin America, and other export markets, it will soon be a staple name for retreaders worldwide.
