On 8 October 2026, VMI officially opened its new facility in León, Mexico, further expanding the company’s global presence. The opening ceremony marked an important milestone in VMI’s commitment to provide local support for its increasing installed base.
Strengthening Local Customer Support
Mr Fonseca, Subsecretary of State; Mr Rodriguez, Deputy Mayor of the city of León; and Harm Voortman, CEO of VMI Group, cut the ribbon, witnessed by customers and the local VMI team, followed by a tree-planting ceremony. The tree planting symbolises VMI’s commitment to sustainability, and recently VMI achieved EcoVadis Platinum status. The new facility in León is designed to the highest sustainability standards, including waste management and energy use.
The ceremony at the León facility followed the recent opening of VMI Japan with a new sales and support office in Yokohama, recognising the importance of the Japanese market for VMI.
Alongside the ceremony in León, VMI held a customer seminar to showcase the latest innovations in tyre building and tyre component preparation solutions.
“This state-of-the-art facility in León, the drum workshop and our local presence will help us support customers in Mexico more efficiently, with faster response times and enhanced levels of service,” said Voortman.
