     Tolins to Establish Tread Making Plant in Coimbatore
Kerala based tread maker Tolins is setting up a new tread manufacturing plant in the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu. The plant will be opened in Coimbatore and is likely to be operational by April 2013. The Coimbatore plant should manufacture around 300 tonnes of tread rubber initially. “We have invested about half a million dollars in the new plant,” said K V Tolins, Managing Director, Tolins Tyre and Treads. The company has a mother plant in Kalady, Kerala, having a production capacity of
around 2,000 tonnes per month, while the plant actually produces around 1,800 tonnes. Tolins is targeting the emerging automobile hub in Tamil Nadu. “Tamil Nadu is a big market and coupled with that it is an emerging auto hub in Asia with global OEMs setting-up their plants in the state. Besides, the plant would also cater to the big local market,” said Tolins. The capacity of the plant could be doubled depending on the demand.
