VMI to Launch New Extruder at Singapore Show
The Netherlands based VMI Group has designed a new series of machines for applying cushion gum called the: "AZ- RETRAX". VMI plans to launch the new series at the forthcoming Tyre Expo in Singapore. “The AZ-RETRAX will be available in the same output range as the current machines, but will also include a lower output machine for retreading companies that retread less
Group.
The new cushion gum extruder extrudes hot cushion gum directly onto the buffed carcass during which skived holes are filled. This is a completely automatic application resulting in zero air inclusion, better quality and in most cases no cement spraying is required. The new series is being launched with an eye on price–sensitive markets like
level of interest being shown by the Indian retreaders in improving quality, especially now that they are seeing more and more radial tyres in their retreading shops. Although, they are very strong on pricing of retreads and some of them see that the only way to differentiate is supplying a better quality,” Gerry Pol stated.
VMI Holland is already well known in the Indian tyre industry as almost every Indian tyre factory has equipment from the VMI group. “Our next goal is starting to supply our cushion gum extruders to Indian retreaders and help to improve quality at reduced costs,” he said.

Indian machinery fabricator Gemeni was first established as a fabricator back in 1985. However, experience in the market and a growing domestic retread market saw the birth of Gemeni Machine Works PVT in 1993.
Gemeni Machine Works was established to produce equipment for the tyre retread market in India. The range of equipment has grown over the past 10 years and today the company produces a full range of equipment for retreading, including inspection spreaders, buffers, builders, curing chambers (electric and steam), envelope spiders, rail systems and cement blenders.
The company claims to have sold over 250 sets of equipment in both Indian and export markets, to both private and public sector operations.
To date exports have largely been in the developing markets where cost is often
a prime consideration: Sri Lanka, Dubai, Nigeria, Sharjah, Madagascar, Mauritius, Muscat, Kenya, Uganda, Yemen, Ghana, Fiji and Egypt.

India, where output is low but retreaders expects good returns on their investment.
During the Rubber Expo in Mumbai, VMI received positive feedback from many Indian retreaders. “There is a high
