The factory makes pre-cured tread strips, cushion products and rubber solutions. 60 per cent of the tread rubber production consists of flat treads, 18% is wing tread and the remaining 22 per cent the company’s ECL contoured treads. There are seven pre-cured tread compounds – 4 in natural rubber and 3 in synthetic. In addition there are three cushion products – HD30, HD30 strips and feed strips for extruders. In total the plant makes 13,175 tonnes of tread rubber each year, the equivalent of 732,000 tyres per annum.
The company’s equipment consists of two Banburys of 270 litres capacity each– one for NR and one for synthetic rubber, with two extruders feeding three extrusion lines. The factory includes three double-sided presses with 46 platens, three finishing lines and a

According to Medrano Bridgestone continues to invest in machinery at the plant, particularly equipment which has an impact on product quality. Latest investments include a new robot installed at the beginning of 2014, a new mixer (also new last year), a cooling conveyor installed two years ago and new finishing machines for wing treads aimed at improving product quality. Says Medrano, “Safety and quality are our two main priorities in the factory. We continue to assure improved quality with increased product testing. We will continue to invest in quality machinery in order to make sure Bridgestone Bandag products stay up to the quality levels of new tyres.”

Vipal Offers Training for Partner in Cyprus
Vipal has offered a training course at its office in Hamburg, Germany for the team from Chr. Kapodistrias & Sons Ltd, Vipal’s new partner in Cyprus. The course took a week to
