Tipler has announced the launch of the RT37+, a new retread designed for heavy urban transport operations. The product was developed and tested for more than eight months in real fleet conditions and delivered performance equal to or superior to that of similar brands evaluated.
High-performance for Urban Transport Fleets
The launch comes amid increased focus on the public transport sector, which moves 33 million passengers every day in Brazil. According to industry data, the country has a fleet of more than 400,000 urban and intercity buses, with an average age of 7.5 years. In many companies, tyres can represent between 6% and 20% of total costs, depending on fleet management efficiency.
Retreading remains one of the main cost-reduction strategies, capable of lowering the cost per kilometre by 40% to 60%. While a new tyre can reach a cost of R$0.07 per km ($0.013 USD), retreading reduces this figure to around R$0.03 ($0.0055 USD) per km, in addition to extending tyre life and helping reduce waste.
Development of the RT37+ involved eight months of field testing in fleets of 200 to 300 vehicles across the cities of Manaus, Goiânia, Belo Horizonte, São Paulo, Itajaí, and Recife. The evaluation included comparisons with different tread designs and compounds available on the market.
According to Tipler, the tread was engineered to withstand severe operating conditions. Its structure features a height of 16 mm and a design that enhances heat dissipation, a crucial factor in extending durability and improving mileage performance.
Key highlights of the new Tipler RT37+ include:
- Increased wear resistance thanks to Tipler’s exclusive premium compound
- Optimised grip on both dry and wet surfaces, improving safety and handling
- Shorter braking distance compared to conventional treads
- Protection against stone trapping, minimising structural damage
- Higher retreading rates throughout the carcass’s service life
The RT37+ is now available throughout Tipler’s nationwide network of authorised dealers.
