BREAKING: EU Parliament Backs EUDR Delay

After a lot of recent confusion, the European Parliament voted today to postpone implementation of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) by one year, aligning with the Council’s mandate agreed last week, according to industry body BIPAVER.

MEPs also called for further simplifications to be prepared by April 2026, including limiting due diligence statements to the “first party” in the supply chain rather than requiring them to be forwarded downstream.

The file now moves to trilogue talks between the European Commission, the Council and the Parliament, with a final decision not expected before mid-December. BIPAVER said that, in light of today’s vote, it is now extremely unlikely the EUDR will enter into force on 30 December 2025.

The EUDR covers several commodities, including natural rubber, with potential implications for tyre and retreading supply chains.

It remains to be seen how the wider retreading industry will respond; we will provide updates as we get them.
