GIIB and TSA Discuss Retreading in Australia

–

GIIB Holdings’ CEO Qisheng Tai and GIIB Australia Business Head Anton Nam recently met with Tyre Stewardship Australia (TSA) CEO Lina Goodman to discuss the role of retreading in Australia’s heavy transport sector.

Retreading’s Role in Sustainable Tyre Lifecycles

The discussions focused on how retreading could help commercial haulage and public transport networks across Oceania reduce their carbon footprints. GIIB highlighted pre-cured tread liners (PTL) as a way to extend tyre service life and support fleets’ environmental, social and governance (ESG) and green procurement objectives.

GIIB says retreading can extend tier-one casing life by up to three times and reduce the oil required to manufacture replacement tyres by roughly 70%. The company presented these benefits as a way to reduce resource consumption while keeping casings in use longer.

The company says its rubber compounds are designed to perform in demanding outback conditions, while its retreading activities help divert end-of-life rubber from landfill. It views engagement with TSA as an opportunity to align its global manufacturing infrastructure and proprietary compound technologies with Australia’s environmental and waste-reduction targets.

GIIB said it hoped to build on the discussions through collaboration aimed at strengthening the local retreading industry, lowering fleet operating costs and supporting sustainability across Oceania’s rubber sector.
