After the damage suffered at the end of 2024, Leader Rubber Company’s manufacturing facility in Johannesburg has officially returned to full production.
Retrading Comeback
Leader Rubber Company, a company of the Marangoni Group, specialises in manufacturing precure material for tyre retreading, focusing primarily on the local South African market. At the end of 2024, the factory experienced a fire that caused significant damage in the compound mixing department. Thanks to the team’s swift response, the rest of production never stopped, while the mixing room was rebuilt. Today, operations are not only restored but enhanced, with upgraded equipment and a more efficient layout.
“The reaction times and the ability of Leader Rubber Company people to manage this moment of crisis were determined to minimise the effects of this incident and are an excellent example of the resilience of our structures,” wrote Vittorio Marangoni, Chairman of Marangoni SpA, during his last visit to Johannesburg.
“We are proud to announce that our facility is back in full production, stronger and more efficient than before. This milestone reflects the commitment of our entire team, the support of our partners, and the trust of our customers. With our new equipment and optimised processes, we are ready to deliver even greater value to the retreading industry,” said Brett Sproson, Managing Director of Leader Rubber Company.
