The Asociación Española de Neumáticos Reciclados (AER) has formally joined the Confederación Española de la Pequeña y Mediana Empresa (CEPYME), in a move aimed at strengthening institutional and business representation for small and medium-sized companies operating in Spain’s retreaded and recycled tyre sector.
Collaboration to Strengthen Representation
According to AER, the decision is intended to improve its ability to represent member companies, increase its presence in strategic working groups, and defend the interests of businesses involved in tyre retreading, recycling, and industrial recovery.
The association said the move comes at a time when companies in the sector face regulatory, industrial, energy, environmental, and market-related challenges. By joining CEPYME, AER expects to gain greater access to forums, initiatives, projects, working groups, and institutional channels relevant to SMEs.
AER said the affiliation would also support its work on issues including sustainability, competitiveness, the circular economy, taxation, financing, industrial regulation, ecological transition, and public procurement.
The association added that the move is particularly relevant for the retreaded tyre sector, where many companies are industrial SMEs. These businesses play a role in the circular economy but also face specific pressures linked to company size, technical regulation, cost increases, institutional visibility, and access to representation.
Through its membership of CEPYME, AER said it would seek to promote the industrial value of tyre retreading and recycling, support public policies aligned with the circular economy, defend fair competition, and encourage measures that benefit industrial SMEs.
The association said the move should not be seen as symbolic, but as an additional tool to strengthen its ability to represent members in an increasingly demanding business environment.
AER will continue to work from its new position within CEPYME to raise the sector’s visibility, improve dialogue with institutions, protect the interests of member companies, and highlight SMEs’ contributions to sustainability, resource reuse, reindustrialisation, and the circular economy in Spain.
AER represents the interests of Spain’s retreaded and recycled tyre sector, bringing together companies from different stages of the tyre value chain. CEPYME represents and promotes the interests of SMEs and self-employed workers in Spain.
