Representatives from the Tire Retread & Repair Information Bureau (TRIB), the Tire Industry Association (TIA), and leading members of the US retreading industry met with Senators’ offices on Capitol Hill to build support for legislation aimed at strengthening the domestic retreading sector.
TRIB and TIA Working Together on Retreading
The delegation included Al Saucedo of Pomp’s Tire Service, Inc., Keith Youngblood of Love’s Travel Stops, Jason Roanhouse of McCarthy Tire Service, together with TIA’s Roy Littlefield IV and Richard Gust, alongside TRIB’s David Stevens.
During the visit, the group met with the offices of Senators Gary Peters, Mark Warner, Jon Ossoff, James Lankford, Tammy Duckworth, Thom Tillis, and Ted Budd to discuss S.2790, the Retreaded Tire Jobs, Supply Chain Security and Sustainability Act.
According to TRIB, the meetings reflected the bipartisan nature of the proposed legislation, which aims to support domestic manufacturing, strengthen supply chain resilience, and promote the environmental benefits of tyre retreading.
The proposed legislation seeks to encourage investment in the US retreading industry by recognising its contribution to job creation, supply chain security, and sustainability. Industry representatives argued that these objectives have broad appeal across the political spectrum and would benefit American businesses, workers, and the environment.
Following the meetings, TRIB encouraged industry stakeholders to contact their Senators and Representatives in support of the legislation, noting that direct engagement from constituents can play an important role in building momentum for the bill.
TRIB also thanked TIA and the participating member companies for travelling to Washington, D.C., to present the industry’s case to lawmakers.
